Camus Technologies, Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our") operates Philosopher's Forest, a mobile game for iOS ("the App"). This Privacy Policy describes the data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your personal information.
By using Philosopher's Forest, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. How We Use Your Data
- Provide game functionality, including AI-powered NPC dialogue, exploration, and social features
- Generate NPC responses via Anthropic's Claude API (see Section 4)
- Match you with city-level Cafe rooms based on your home city
- Moderate content for safety using automated AI moderation and human review
- Process in-app purchases through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat
- Respond to support requests
- Enforce our Terms of Service and EULA
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose not listed above.

No personal data beyond your dialogue message text is sent to Anthropic or Voyage AI. Your name, email, location, and other account information are never included in AI API calls. Anthropic processes dialogue data under their commercial API terms; your dialogue data is not used to train AI models. We do not sell your data to any third party. No advertising SDKs are integrated into the App.
4. AI Data Processing
Philosopher's Forest uses artificial intelligence to bring philosopher NPC characters to life.
AI Provider: Anthropic (Claude API). Claude Sonnet generates NPC dialogue responses. Claude Haiku moderates content for safety.
Embedding Provider: Voyage AI converts dialogue text into numerical representations for knowledge retrieval.
What is sent: Only the text of your dialogue messages and recent conversation history (up to 10 turns). No personally identifiable information (name, email, location, account ID) is included.
Consent: Before any dialogue features become available, you must explicitly consent through an in-app consent screen that names Anthropic as the AI provider and explains what data is sent. If you decline, you can still explore the game world, collect wisdom fragments, and customize your avatar, but you cannot engage in NPC dialogue, use City Cafes, or send postcards.
Withdrawing consent: You can withdraw AI data consent at any time through Settings, which disables all dialogue features.

Account deletion: You can request account deletion through Settings > Delete Account. All personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate data may be retained.
6. Your Rights
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data. Display name and home city are editable in-app.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Restrict processing: Withdraw AI consent at any time, which disables dialogue features.
- Object: Contact us to object to specific data processing activities.

7. Children's Privacy
Philosopher's Forest is rated 16+ and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us at support@philoforest.com.
8. Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Row-level security is enforced at the database level, ensuring players can only access their own data.
- Commonplace book entries are synced to your device and searched locally; search queries never leave your device.
- Authentication is handled through Apple Sign-In (industry-standard OAuth).
- Access to moderation data is restricted to authorized administrators.
No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States, where our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Anthropic, Voyage AI) operate. These transfers are made under standard contractual clauses or equivalent legal safeguards as required by applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice and an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after such notice constitutes acceptance. Previous versions are available upon request.
